Yes, it’s so true that working abroad could help a lot as long us u know how to budget and save your money. Most Filipinos work as maids, laborers, construction workers and caregiver. Aside from the difficulty to understand the culture of foreign countries and their way of life, it’s too risky also. If you’re not brave enough then working there is not right for you.

I have a friend; she left her managerial position here in Philippines to work in Hong Kong as house helper and a caregiver just to earn a big amount. She thought she could earn double. Aside from doing daily household chores she took care of a 12 years old special child. This child had a very complicated behavior and liked it much if he could hurt physically. He often slaps my friend, to hard to be with. Unfortunately she landed in the hands of strict employer. The employer, let her wash huge blankets using bare hands, imagine how stressful it is? The worst, she suspected that all corners of the house have built-in cameras and she really able to prove it. She was so careful with her moves specially in taking care with the child. Until such time she could no longer take what was happening. She left Hong Kong, went back to Philippines with no savings at all!

It’s never wrong to learn caregiver course. But it is reality that becoming a caregiver is difficult. Care giving role is not an easy one: it can be stressful, time-consuming, and physically demanding. The proper care of the patient requires dedication, patience, initiative, and stamina. Caregivers also should be emotionally and physically healthy enough to provide care, they must take care of their own needs as well as their patient. It really depends on how determined you are to take the challenge. Filipino caregivers receive a lot of good comments, because most Filipinos really provide the pure care that they need.

When does it become risky? When the one you care is not as normal as you, if the incapacitate become a threat because despite their being and situation they still have behaviors. Just like what happened to my friend if she opted not to leave I think her life is at risk. She has no enough physical strength to handle if the child becomes wild. But other Filipinos enjoy their work as caregivers, not only that they earned big; the ties between them and their patient develop into relationship. Even though it’s not an easy task- still rewarding. Many Filipinos take the challenge as caregivers.

It’s a matter of choice, sometimes it’s too hard to care someone specially those considered as “other people” not our bloodline. Before realizing it, each one should examine first if care giving is good for them, know the tips and consider all pros and cons. Remember that regrets are useless if your life is already at risk. So think of it!
